BREAKING: Mike Goodson Tweets He Has ACL and MCL Tear

Horrible news, directly from the player’s mouth this time.

Just a few minutes ago, Jets’ running back Mike Goodson has tweeted the results of his MRI, and they are very bad. Per Goodson, he has torn his MCL and ACL, about as bad a result as he could have gotten.

We can now be safe in saying he will be out for the rest of 2013, although we have no announcement from the team as of yet. Tearing either one of those ligaments typically knocks a player out for the year, so tearing both puts the guy in big trouble.

This is a tough break for the Jets, as we all know. Goodson was a well-needed injection of speed into an offense that lacks in playmakers. The running game will come down to Bilal Powell and Chris Ivory, with a little bit of Alex Green and Tommy Bohanon mixed in.

Hopefully the Jets can weather this storm.

Well Goodson was short lived. No preseason, missed the first five games to his own stupidity, and now the injuries. Powell thankfully is developing into quite the weapon, taking over the starting spot in the run game, and showing he can play a part in the pass game as well. I read Ivory is not happy in his role with the Jets, maybe I missed something, but wasn’t that the role he played his whole career thus far? He’s not a bad compliment to Powell, but he’s struggled to stay on the field and his production hasn’t earned him the starting job by any means The run game has been sufficient for Marty’s passing oriented offense through the first 5 games, while the injury is unfortunate, I think the run game won’t miss Goodson much..
