I guess the love affair with Brady Quinn is set to be short-lived, huh?
Just released a few minutes ago by Eric Allen, the Jets have brought back nine-year veteran, quarterback David Garrard. He has been placed on the exempt list for the next two weeks, which means that the Jets have this week and next week to decide whether or not to activate him.
You’ll remember that David was signed in the off-season as veteran quarterback competition, only to have him retire due to ongoing trouble with his knee. Well, David feels that he has had enough time to rest his ailing joint, and wants to give it another try, so he is back with the team.
The only likely scenario is that this will end the tenure of Brady Quinn with the New York Jets. Matt Simms would drop back to the third string quarterback, and David would be installed as the backup, and a terrific veteran influence to be inside Geno Smith’s ear.
Interesting move, as David would be a great influence on Geno, with a career passer rating of 85.8, and 89 touchdowns to 54 interceptions. He has the clear concept of protecting the football under his belt, and should be quite the asset.
