Jets Claim Former Patriots TE Zach Sudfeld

As par for the course, someone in the Patriots/Jets rivalry is released, the other team picks the player up.

It has been confirmed that the Jets have signed recently released tight end Zach Sudfeld. He was brought in to be the replacement for tight end Aaron Hernandez, who is having his well-known trouble with the law. But now he is a Jet.

In three games active for the New England Patriots, Zach Sudfeld did not record a catch. Yes, the Jets have injuries to their offensive weapons, we don’t need to discuss them. We have done enough of that. But the tight ends have looked good. Kellen Winslow has created some matchup problems for teams, and Jeff Cumberland caught his first touchdown pass last week in Tennessee.

So it makes you wonder, was this signing made just for the sake of the rivalry? Is Sudfeld being brought in here simply for information from the dark side? It is not entirely impossible.

To make room for Sudfeld, the Jets have released LB Scott Solomon

Neither of the Jets TE’s have impressed much. The signing doesn’t make much sense upfront, but hey if he can produce from the position, I’m all for it! The Jets have needed an elite tight end for a very long time!
