New York Jets’ Notes: Ducasse to the Bench, Team to Sign David Nelson?

Just some news and notes to get things going….

First, it would appear that the inevitable has finally arrived. According to a report from Kimberley Martin from “Newsday”, the Jets plan to demote to second string along the line. Rookie lineman Brian Winters will be taking his place.

And there is the unfortunate news regarding Santonio Holmes. It appears that the injury to his hamstring is not terrible serious, but he will miss a few weeks, according to several reports. To take his place, Brian Costello is reporting that the Jets will sign David Nelson today.

Neither of these are too suprising to me. Vladimir Ducasse did work his take off, but the penalties over the last couple of weeks have bene unforgivable. The Jets will put in, as I said a couple of paragraphs ago, rookie Brian Winters.

Nelson hs ability. If healthy, he is a productive player. In 2011, he did post 61 receptions, 658 yards, and five TDs. That isn’t bad, and if Tone can’t go at all, the Jets could do worse than this guy.

I don’t understand why they are signing Nelson to take Holmes place when they have Spadola? Anyone care to explain??

I guess they aren’t thrilled with him, for some reason. When Gates was dropping passes, Rex was asked if Spadola might see increased playing time and he answered with a flat no. Weird, I agree.

If Holmes is out and Hill, they cut Obanu, meaning the y are down three receivers. While Spadola is good, he can’t make up for the loss of three guys. Currently the Jets are hurting at the position, making it necessary to sign a veteran. Much like last year, they will be searching every where and anywhere to find one that can possibly help.
