Well, we were expecting roster news this week, but this is not what any of us were looking for, I assure you.
The Jets have announced that they have released punter Robert Malone. They have added two players to the roster, punter Ryan Quigley, and LB Scott Solomon.
Both Solomon and Quigley were with the Jets during training camp this offseason. Quigley lost the punting competition to Malone, now he has returned.
Most will agree, the timing of moves like this is actually quite odd from John Idzik and company. Yes, Robert Malone had a rough game on Thursday night, but overall, his time with the Jets, dating back to last year has been quite good. Robert has been a positive in the field position game. Solomon hasn’t had a chance to have an impact yet.
It just seems that time and resources would have been better spent on wide receivers, and ones that can possibly return punts as well. Did a move at punter need to happen now? Not so sure.
