There is a lot that you can say about Mark Sanchez and his performance as a player. I know many of you have said them. But one thing that cannot be taken for granted is how he behaves as a teammate. Despite the fact that Geno Smith has been gunning for his job, Mark Sanchez has helped him in any way possible, every step of the way.
Sunday, he continued to do so, and with a smile on his face. He has been a great resource of information for Geno, and will continue to be one as he prepares for the game against New England on Thursday:
A ton. Mark’s always going to be there for me and he’s a guy I can count on to give me some good information. Like you said, he’s faced this team a number of times, two times a year with us being in the same division, so Mark has a ton of information for me. It’s going to be extremely helpful. We’re going to prepare and do this thing together. We’re going to work as a team as we always do and prepare ourselves for Thursday night.
Smith is ready for the challenge of facing a hoodie-led defense:
Yes, I embrace the challenge. I know Coach Belichick is one of the masterminds in this league. (I have) a ton of respect for him and his team. I expect everything, every single look. I will appreciate it because it’ll help me out in the future. Like I said, every single look I get from here on out is going to help me out. I look forward to it. I look forward to every single challenge. I’m going to prepare myself for pretty much anything because that’s what you can expect coming from that team.
Mark will always be a great teammate. This will be a tough one on the short week for Geno, so he will need all of the tips that he can get. If any game is going to tell us how far along Geno Smith is, this will be the game.
