So there was the offense. Now, who is going to stick on Rex and DT’s defense? What about special teams? Here are my thoughts:

Muhammad Wilkerson
Quinton Coples
Sheldon Richardson
Kenrick Ellis
Damon Harrison
Antonio Garay
Leger Douzable

No changes here from my previous predictions. Douzable cemented his roster spot with his performance last night against the Eagles.

Demario Davis
David Harris
Ricky Sapp
Antwan Barnes
Nick Bellore
Garrett McIntyre
Danny Lansanah
Calvin Pace

My only change of opinion here is on Calvin Pace. I believe Rex will end up holding on to him. Lansanah earned his spot last night, but no other young LB did. So, I think Calvin will stick. But he won’t play a lot.

Antonio Cromartie
Kyle Wilson
Dee Milliner
Dawan Landry
Antonio Allen
Jaiquawn Jarrett
Darrin Walls
Ellis Lankster
Isaiah Trufant

I think Bush still needs more time on the practice squad, so I think he just misses the final 53. He might make it, he is one I went back and forth on.

Nick Folk

Robert Malone

Tanner Purdum

We will see soon enough how close this is. What do you guys think?

Goodson doesn’t count on the 53 until he’s active, does he? And wouldn’t his inactivity allow bush to make it until week five? The rest I completely agree with. As a side note, as horrible as the clown media is and as low an opinion I have of their opinions, would you believe I got an email from CBS (owners of our fantasy league) giving me the Matt Mullen award for the worst fantasy roster in our league (maybe all of CBS, I don’t know). Naturally the guy who drafted second and didn’t show and was therefore auto drafting in the ‘CBS order of talent’ was the ace of the draft. The best part about it us we get to play the games and see! I’ve got the players I wanted!

I believe it from what you were telling me about your draft LOL. Not sure about the rules on Goodson., as to whether he counts or not….Great guys to ask on that are the guys from Jets Nation website

      • Frank Antonelli

Goodson will be placed on the league’s suspended list and not count against the 53 man roster.

When we put players on the practice squad they can be plucked by another team at any point, correct? And if so, what are that teams requirements? Active roster for the rest of the season or return them? Or can they be placed on their own practice squads? or are they released outright rather than returning them? And one more, when placing players on the practice squad do they need to clear waivers first? Thanks in advance. And I do think you’re being a little lazy when you fail to list the practice squaders :)

    • TheJetPress

Very funny wise guy. Yes, players can be chosen off of a practice squad at any point. I don’t believe that they have to be active, I think they can be used as practice squad. Yes, if we are going to bring guys back to PS, they have to clear waivers first.

Offense I have little argument, though the Jason Smith prediction I’m not too sure of, he surely can’t be counted on as depth, keeping him just to run the “jumbo” seems a waste of a roster spot. Defensively, I have to question keeping Pace on the roster, surely there is a young LB, who has potential. Pace just doesn’t make sense on the roster. Trufant goes, Bush sticks I think. Trufant;s special teams work has kept him around, but his actual cover skills are questionable. I saw little from the DB’s to say we have a ton of depth. Actually I’m worried about the secondary, Wilson should probably be cut or traded, but who do you replace him with? Millner has been injury pronged and hasn’t really impressed. This year’s draft class has had its difficulties.

    • Frank Antonelli

As usual we differ! Pace and Trufant are locks for this team. Pace still has value and Rex loves him. Rex loves DBs and Trufant has shown enough to not only stick but play a fairly regular role. Wilson is getting a bad rap, they had a pretty good defense last year with Kyle as the starting CB. Millner is not injury prone. I watched a lot of Alabama last year (Roll Tide!)
and he played in virtually every game when he was there. He’s a star in the making.

    • Alan Schechter

Thanks for the feedback Paul. You are sure right about the new draft class, other than Richardson it has been rough. I agree that Pace should go, I just don’t think he necessarily will. As far as Wilson, if “Captain PI” ever was gone, maybe that kid running back kicks, Mike Edwards could replace him. Hadn’t given that a lot of thought though.

  • Frank Antonelli

Garay has supposedly been released. Not a huge surprise given how poor he was versus the run against the Eagles backups. They also may bring him back after the first game when contracts aren’t guaranteed, namely, they can cut him at any time after week 2 and not have to pay his full, annual salary.

    • Alan Schechter

Yes frank, it looks like Garay has been released…Thanks for the Goodson info as well.
