Darrelle Revis Opens Mouth and Takes Shots at his Former Team

I have never been happier that Darrelle Revis is off of our team than I was when I read this report yesterday.

Did you all see this yesterday? Warren Sapp had a chat with Darrelle Revis down at Bucs camp yesterday, and Darrelle fired the first missile back North, at the team that he played for since he was drafted. And it was uncalled for. Take a look:

“It’s more of a family here,” Revis told Warren Sapp on NFL Network’s “Inside Training Camp Live.” “Everybody is real tight here. We all get along, everybody is fine. There’s no nitpicking. No small stories leaking out to be bigger stories,” Revis said. “Everybody is on the same page here, and we want to win.”

It’s good to see that Darrelle is staying “classy”, isn’t it folks? Ever since he has been gone, it has been more and more apparent how Darrelle Revis is a “me” player. Heck, we starting learning that before he left, but now, we know it in spades. And we don’t need that around here.

We all know that Darrelle is happy to be out of New York. He didn’t want to be part of a team. He wanted more money than God, and was annoyed that Woody Johnson wouldn’t break the entire salary cap on him. So, he went to Tampa Bay, and now they can prepare for his eventual holdout one of these years. The Jets will move on, as will the Bucs, and both will be just fine.

But, could Revis leave things alone. Of course not. He had to take shots at the Jets. If he had left it at the “family” comment, it wouldn’t have been so bad. Darrelle couldn’t leave things at one comment though, he took it further. He talked about the stories getting leaked. He talked about nitpicking. These were obvious shots at the New York Jets, and there is no reason for it. Darrelle has to tell the world that it is all about him, and no one else.

Hey Darrelle. Do us a favor. SHUT UP!!

Yeah, the Jets were really terrible to him. All the Jets did, pay him more money than he could spend in eight lifetimes. Let’s see what else. Oh, yes, they also made him the most famous cornerback in football. They did that too. Wow! You know, he’s right to be mad at them. The Jets were real SOB’s to him. I hope the sarcasm is dripping hard enough for you all to see.

Darrelle, we are sorry we wouldn’t break our entire salary cap so you could make all the money in the world. Woody and the Jets actually wanted to have an entire football team. Congratulations on getting a contract with Tampa Bay. But that doesn’t mean you need to take shots at the Jets when you have the chance. The Jets did nothing to you sir. Keep your ego to yourself. Unless of course, your goal is to get booed out of the building week one. Then, great job.

Here’s a novel idea, keep your mind focused on getting ready to play for you new team. Hot flash for you Darrelle, Braylon is going to beat you for a TD, and do the “Dougie” all over your little face. Don’t forget where your bread was buttered pal. You are a major player in the NFL landscape because of us, keep that in your mind when you trash talk us sir.

And by the way, shut up! The Jets will make you look silly week one, and will be motivated after you opening your mouth. Kevin James’ character on “The King of Queens” had an appropriate quote….”Take a bus ride to shutty town!”

Thanks Alan- enjoyed that one. Revis should have said thanks for the opportunity, I am off to make as much money for me and that’s the end of the story

    • TheJetPress

No problem Dave. I usually don’t get this upset but those comments ticked me off. Keep it to yourself and get readl to play for your little Bucs.

I was still prepared to wear my ’24′ jersey at the International Series games and when I go to MetLife to watch Jets-Pats in October.

After this and his complete lack of class here, I will invest in a new jersey.

Appreciate all the great play for the Jets Darelle, but there was absolutely no need to rail on them like that. Absolutely classless….

    • TheJetPress

Totally agree. Someone while at the Santonio Holmes charity event this past weekend was wearing 24 jersey, but covered up the name and wrote “Who?” I think you would have liked that.

      • Gavin Buck, London (UK)

I was thinking of doing something similar and writing ‘w@*ker’ on it, but thought that was taking it too far….

        • matr dontelli iii

No, Gavin, that wouldn’t be taking it too far. If it were my jersey it would say ‘injury prone ingrate’ but I know you Brits love using that other multi-purpose word

        • TheJetPress

          hahahaha

        • Edwin Cuquito Camacho

Completely appropriate and better than my selection of Co*ksucker

  • Christian Johns

There is defiantly a team chemistry/culture problem with the Jets evidenced by their underachieving the past few years. Can anyone argue that these are NOT issues the Jets have had? They ARE obvious cracks at the Jets because that is what that team has been about and I wouldn’t want to play for them either.

The fact that he is one of the premier CB’s in football is what made him famous; the Jets didn’t do that for him. Frankly he deserves to get paid whatever his free marked value is deemed to be – how can you expect loyalty to such a toxic group of individuals? Quit whining and start winning…

    • TheJetPress

He is a terrific player no doubt. But being on this stage helped him. And they paid him more than he could ever hope to spend. Of course the team has had its issues, nobody is saying no, but what was gained by him making the comments. Nothing.
We have put him out of sight and out of mind…..he should do the same thing.

    • Frank Antonelli

      You’re an idiot.

  • Paul Newbold

Wow Allen, tell us how you feel! I personally didn’t think his comments were that bad considering some of the words other ex Jets have had for their “beloved” organization. I do agree with you on Revis though! A great talent, who’s head and paycheck far outweigh his classiness. He’s like many pros in today’s game, its all about them and their bank accounts, not team. I know its a business, but there has to be some room for fair play, The Jets treated him more than fairly.

    • TheJetPress

LOL…This one bugged me Paul….well obviously. These bulletin board statements serve absolutely no purpose. He could have expressed happiness being in Tampa Bay without taking the shots at the team.
You are right…all about the bank acct, and it stinks

  • Edwin Cuquito Camacho

Does anyone think that maybe Revis might have been the problem with his Diva ass personality? He will be the new Nnamdi and turn to shit in TB… Also, nice to see him finally show up to someones camp on time… what a dick….

    • TheJetPress

      I agree that Revis is a Diva…completely

    • tgilb5171

      Nope, nobody thought that! LOLOLOL

I’ve said before how i feel about leaving a coach you claim to love to go play for Greg Schiano. I’ve said how I feel about claiming you want to play for a team for your entire career when your actions indicate you are a mercenary and only care about making the most money. I’ve said before how I feel about leaving one situation in order to earn money that likely will be spent by descendents you may never know. I’ve said how I feel about his stupid chuckle that he always does when he’s being interviewed. I’ve said I feel he sounds like a dope when he speaks. I’ve said that since his body has such a hard time withstanding the rigors of the NFL season we’re better off with the much more durable Antonio Cromartie as our shutdown corner. I’ve said how little real leadership he ever showed when compared to what Cro has done in his few short years here. I’ve pointed out Cro’s return abilities as well as how Cro seems to truly appreciate being a Jet. I’ve said we’ll be better off spending sixteen million dollars elsewhere on the roster. I’ve said I think the team will be better without him, especially considering how little he played last year, how much Cro stepped up in his absence, how much his absence seems to be allowing Cro to grow as a leader, how the draft picks allow us to have more cheaper talent on the roster. I haven’t before pointed out how these new comments are a slap in the face to the coach he claimed to love playing for and who helped raise his game and profile, not to mention his earning abilties to new heights. I haven’t pointed out how he and the appropriately named Sapp are perfect together. I am now going someplace I don’t normally go though I may have alluded to these feeling in the past. This guy is a real ungrateful jerk. I think it is stupid to make career decisions based on being the highest paid at your position, especially given what he has earned already and how difficult it would be to spend all that already earned money in one lifetime. This guy epitomizes selfishness by playing a team sport and demanding money that is not in line with his value to his team, therefore making himself and his contract a potential detriment to his team. Had he stayed here he would have been a detriment to this team. He showed how little he cared about the Jets when he held out prior to the 2010 season when hopes were so high for a playoff run. I’ve never used the term ‘good riddance’ so much in my life as I’ve used it regarding this guy. There always seems to be someone stupid enough to pay the money to these guys – think Alex Rodriguez, Barry Zito, Albert Pujols. All it takes is an overzealous agent and a talented player and they seem to find a way to get a contract that is in nobody’s best interests except the agent. In case it isn’t yet obvious I really, really dislike this guy. I don’t usually wish ill on someone but I am making an exception here. Since money is so important to him and loyalty isn’t, honesty isn’t, teamwork isn’t, I can only hope that since his contract is not guaranteed past this year, he comes back as a shell of his former self, never regains the superior abilities he once showed and at the end of the year is discarded by Schiano and the Bucaneers the way he discarded the coach and team who helped put him in this position. Good Riddance. Break a leg you ungrateful jerk. I really wanna see our quarterback burn this guy for a touchdown or two week one. Go Jets.

    • TheJetPress

Can’t disagree with any of that sir.

    • tgilb5171

You need to get a life! You are clearly TOO focused on Revis! And for all you said, I”m pretty sure you have wished ill will on others. You sound very, very bitter about someone who has never even met you or done anything to you personally, but has decided that he will make the most of his NFL career and stand up for what he believes is due him. I hurt for those who do know you personally and have crossed you at anytime in their lives! Good riddance to you ungrateful Jets fans who don’t appreciate the fact that Revis put you all back on the map. There’s no Hard Knocks Jets episode without Revis on the team; there’s no playoff run for the Jets for the first time since the Bedrock ages without Revis; there’s no Monday night; Thursday night; Thanksgiving Day games without Revis on the team. Revis put the Jets back in the spotlight. You are the ungrateful jerks! Now go break your leg!!!!

  • Pewter Power

HAHAHA MAKING A SMALL STORY TO A BIG ONE!!!! Haha just what New York is good at, talking about somebody else’s success and not there own . Stop talking about your sorry Jets they sucked last year and they will suck this year. With or without Revis..
    Pewter power

  • Pewter Power

Pathetic Jets fans if you ask me, his words weren’t even that bad. CLEARLY he was right about the nit picking and your just angry, Jets fans and New York media is pathetic. I guess you will do anything for people to read your pathetic story .. I’m glad Revis left too so I guess we can both agree with something, except I have respect for his game and what he did for the Jets organization. Tampa will treat him good and won’t bash him as soon as he leaves, you guys are pathetic.

    • TheJetPress

If we are pathetic, what does that mean someone who is commenting on Jets articles when they don’t even care about the Jets?

      • Pewter Power

Is that the only thing you got, no no no your pathetic Pewter power . Looks like your 5th grade education has paid off. Why not try to go back to school so that these crappy articles will make sense, your passion blinds you from what is reality. THE JETS SUCK. Nice come back though.

        • TheJetPress

I’m actually not going to make this personal, since my regular readers hear that from me all the time. All I am going to say is this. Congrats on getting him down there. I am sorry your perception of the Jets is incorrect from down there in Tampa. Good luck with Darrelle, I would love to hear from you the first time Darrelle holds out on your team, because I guarantee it will happen. Eventually he will want too much money, and he will leave. Then tell us how we are making a small story out of nothing.

          • Pewter Power

Good luck with Dee as you will over pay for him as well. Revis is obviously happier in Tampa so I expect great things to come. Money money money. The only real reason players choose NY. No heart.Ill be back wk1 for more till then ,keep writing you piss poor articles about your shitty team.
            Bye

          • tgilb5171

Don’t make guarantees about something you clearly have no clue about. Tampa Bay is not the Jets. One thing they will do is be up front and honest with Revis about their intentions to pay him or not. That way he can make an informed decision. Unlike Tannenbaum and Woody, who tried to string him along, hoping he was just some dumb black jock who would not hold them to what they told him. Just let it go man, players leave teams all the time and teams cut players.

  • Bennny K

    Mevi$.

    • TheJetPress

      I like it!

    • tgilb5171

You’re a hater and probably a washed upon wanna be football player that had to give guys like Revis gatorade!

  • tgilb5171

You sound very bitter. Get over it man, it’s his opinion based upon his experience with this organization. He sees how different it is to play for a classier organization who doesn’t thrive on negativity. And by the way, the Jets did not make Revis the most famous cornerback in football. Revis and the gifts and callings of God, (who no one could ever have more money than) made Revis the most famous cornerback in football.

  • TheJetPress

For all of my fans and regular readers…the two users on here that decided to troll from Tampa and take shots at me, and you guys, have been banned. You guys know how I feel about debate, but the personal stuff is unnecessary.
    They are gone

    • PewterPower1

Hahaha I’m glad somebody else did read this ignorant article and agreed with me, you are a piss poor author who writes on emotion who has no logic what so ever. Good luck and I feel bad for your “fans” and regular readers. As they have been scammed to think that you actually know what your talking about.

  • matr dontelli iii

They’re like little kids. If you ignore them they go bother someone who will pay them attention (I say this from experience, as a kid it was no fun bothering someone who ignored me. I went looking for someone who made it fun. I just cracked up remembering the time some 50 year old man doing repairs on his porch threw his hammer at me. Fortunately I think it was a Sanchez. He missed or I wouldn’t likely be laughing thinking about it). This may all be that same dumb ass with the cowboy hat. They have basically no disqus history until they started here. Never respond directly to their moronic comments. It may go to their inboxes and bring them back here. As far as their love affairs with the cornerback, they’ll learn. Probably sooner than later.

    • TheJetPress

You are right…not worth our time.
