Bob Crable did a good job for the Jets from his outside linebacker position, until injuries ended his career prematurely after only 6 seasons.

New York Jets: Where Are They Now? Bob Crable

Time for another edition of “Where Are They Now?”. For this installment, we head back to the 1980s, for a linebacker that had his career end far too soon, thanks to knee injuries. This installment is for none other than #50, linebacker, Bob Crable!

THEN
Remember Bob Crable? He was born in Cincinnati, OH, and attended Archbishop Moeller High School. This is where Crable’s football career really got going, as his teams at the school went a combined 36-0 over the years Bob was in school. Crable took his talents to Notre Dame, where he was an All-American in 1980-1981. He also worked hard in the classroom, studying business administration and marketing. Bob Crable was chosen by the Jets with their first round pick in 1982, the 23rd choice overall. In 6 years at outside linebacker with the Jets, Bob recorded 10 sacks. Unfortunately, he sustained 2 knee injuries that prevented Crable from continuing his career beyond 1987, and Crable retired.

NOW
While with the Jets, Crable went into his first business venture, high-end sportswear known as “Crable Sportswear.” The company was purchased in 1989 by the Midland Company, yet Crable stayed on as the president.

He also coached his alma-mater from 2000-2007, Archbishop Moeller High School. In the 1993-1994 school year, he accepted a full-time position teaching religion as well.
