Out at Jets’ headquarters, John Idzik and company have been the busy group this weekend, inviting 5 players to minicamp for tryouts next week, three of them veterans.

The three veterans are: TE Kellen Winslow Jr, WR Mike Sims-Walker, and DL Leger Douzable. They have also invited two rookies into the mix to tryout next week, T Mark Jackson and CB Mason Robinson.

Leger Douzable played with the Rams in 2009, followed by the Jaguars from 2010-2011. His time so far in the league has been as a backup, with his best year in 2001, recording 38 tackles and one sack.

Mike Sims-Walker wasn’t a 1,000 yard receiver, not yet. He did get close with the Jacksonville Jaguars, posting back to back 7 TD seasons, and one year with 63 catches for 869 yards.

Winslow is by far my favorite of this group of invitees. Through his years with the Tampa Bay Bucs, Winslow posted 2 seasons with over 70 receptions, and prior to that, 2 seasons with over eighty receptions while a member of the Cleveland Browns.

Winslow would be a good addition. If we want Geno to be successfully we need to surround him with vets on the offense who can help him through the season.
Right now we have Brick and and Mangold.

Vets know what it’s about and can help the team and players through tough times.

I agree with you Benny. It’s always good to get some known quantities around a rookie QB.
