Here stands before you, the facelift of the New York Jets’ running attack. Gone is three yards and a cloud of dust Greene, and in are Chris Ivory and Mike Goodson. These are two guys that have great potential to take the Jets’ running attack to the next level, based on their explosive running styles.

We all know by now about Mike Goodson’s legal troubles.  We also know that the Jets intend to let the legal process play out before making a decision on the fate of Goodson.

Does the justice system EVER run quickly for athletes? Nope, it sure doesn’t. It is not impossible that this case won’t be wrapped up until long after the 2013 season is over. So, if the Jets stick to their guns with how they are going to handle the situation, Mike Goodson will be here in 2013. So, this is how we will proceed for the purposes if this article.

This morning, I wanted to bring you an official, “Tale of the Tape”, between Ivory and Goodson. It’s a chance to take a look at their stats for their young careers, side by side, to come to your own conclusions as to which player is better, here we go.

First for Mike Goodson:

Season Team Rushing Receiving Fumbles

TOTAL 160 722 4.5 45 3 59 524 8.9 64 1 7 4

And now, for fan favorite Chris Ivory:

Season Team Rushing Receiving Fumbles
G GS Att Yds Avg Lng TD Rec Yds Avg Lng TD FUM Lost
2012 New Orleans Saints 6             2 40 217 5.4 56T 2 2 15 7.5 13 0

TOTAL 256 1,307 5.1 56 8 3 32 10.7 17 0 4 2

If you ask me, the numbers are kind of similar. It certainly makes for an interesting competition for the number one running back spot.

Green—2.8 yards and fall down is more like it.

Look who he learned behind. Thomas ‘run until you hit one of your blockers, then fall down’ Jones.

  • Dustin Schrank

I know we didn’t have LT for long but man I miss him. I’ve only seen clips of Ivory and goodson never watched them in a game, do you know if either is a decent blocker? It looks like goodsons got Ivory beat in the passing game but Ivory is a very physical runner, reminds me of Lynch.

Not sure how either guy handles the pass blocking Dustin. But I totally agree on your assessment of the two backs, Ivory reminds me of Lynch too.
