This was not the beginning to a Jets’ career that Mike Goodson or
John Idzik had hoped for.

Per a report earlier from ESPN, new Jets’ running back Mike Goodson
Was arrested earlier this morning on drugs and weapons charges.

As noted in today’s report, Goodson was found in the left center lane in an SUV with a driver, Goodson was the passenger. 911 was called because the person that discovered Goodson didn’t like the condition he appeared in. He was taken to the hospital and released when he was well enough.

Trouble is, he was found with marijuana and a handgun when he was taken to the hospital, so upon his release he was taken to Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.

What is John Idzik to do? Does he hang onto Goodson, or does he release him? He was obviously a big part of the plans for the running game. But there would be history to fall back on, should John decide to make a move.

The Jets did release Claude Davis and Cliff Harris after they faced their own drug charges. They previously had future contracts with the Jets.

So what should John do? Should Goodson stay or go? Sound off below as always.

If it was his handgun with hollow points he’s gotta go. No ifs, ands or buts. If it was his. They may dump him over the reefer. Can they test him or does it have to be randumb?

    • TheJetPress

I doubt they can directly test him. . The NFLPA would have a field day over that you know? But I agree, he likely will be shown the door.

  • blastingzone

Son of a gun I was really excited about seeing Goodson and Ivory playing together in the same backfield Dam it!! Now the jets will give more playing
time to McKnight and Ivory together and with McKnight’s speed it will work
out the same way? Ivory will now be the #1 back!! The jets just cut two
players for possession of pot and so what kind of a message would it send
to the rest of the team if they didn’t kick his ass off the team and he had a
gun too! it really hurts to say this but there’s no doubt in my mind that he’s

    • TheJetPress

I agree…on one hand people deserve second chances, but you are right, if they cut those other two guys, it won’t be right to keep Goodson.

  • Edgar NYJet

Agree. He needs to go, can’t have negativity around and idzik needs to prove a point… Damn it’s so upsetting

    • TheJetPress

It doesn’t seem to fit the Idzik business model does it? He would have made quite the 1-2 punch if he stayed healthy. Moot point now, huh?

  • Dustin Schrank

My hopes for the Jets always seems to get crushed……Goodson you idiot you must go, we can’t afford anymore baggage.

    • TheJetPress

No disagreement Dustin. Time to go.

  • Frank Antonelli

Wow. Jet fans acting as judge and jury! We don’t have all the specifics yet. Ever hear of innocent until proven guilty. Idzik will not over react and will ascertain all the facts before making a decision. To compare Goodson with 2 stiffs that were simply training camp fodder is ridiculous. Each situation is unique and should be judged on it’s own merits. Let’s stop with the generalizations.

    • TheJetPress

Hey Frank……I understand what you are saying. I didn’t mean to compare it to those two guys, but on the other hand, a player shouldn’t get more chances because he is a prominent player either. No doubt that Idzik will wait until all of the facts come out, always in agreement there.

    • matr dontelli iii

My comments were ‘if’ comments. I try to be careful that way.

    • Dustin Schrank

I can’t agree, the guy is found in a car with pot and a hand gun, even if they are not his why was he there. He finally gets his chance to make a move and this is the move he makes, I’m sorry but you should be conscience of the people you hang with. No reason, maybe excuses but no reason.

      • TheJetPress

I hear you Dustin. I don’t think he gets off with a warning or anything like that, I’m just saying wrong place wrong time might deserve a lesser punishment is all. I men, guys to deserve second chances.

        • TheJetPress

sorry I know you were talking to Frank but I felt the urge to chime in anyway.

      • Frank Antonelli

Again we do NOT have all the facts. Remember the Duke lacrosse situation where everyone jumped to an incorrect judgment. We’re so quick to jump to conclusions before we have all the facts.

        • Dustin Schrank

your right we dont know all the facts what we know is he was in a car with a hand gun and pot…like I said even if its not his why was he there???? ill quote myself “you should be conscience of the people you hang with” Why didn’t they wait until the facts came out for the two UDFA’s that got caught?
