The Jets, in addition to announcing the UDFA signings we mentioned in the roundup, announced a signing we knew was coming, as well as some added depth to the offensive line.

Today, the team announced the signing of guard Stephen Peterman.  He has been a starter, playing his first two years in Dallas, followed by the last seven in Detroit, taking part in 90 games, starting 86 of them.  He started all 16 games blocking for Matt Stafford in 2012.

And then the Jets finalized a contract extension with Chris Ivory.  We have all been high on Ivory, so hearing Ivory signed to a long term deal should make everyone happy.  The extension is for three years, and believed to be at the $10 million mark.

Slowly but surely, John Idzik is making this roster over in the spirit of competition.  We have a growing amount of depth on the offensive line.   Ivory is a step-up in the running game.  The Jets have added 2 potential stars on defense and a guy who may be the quarterback of the future.

John is doing well, and the circus is packing up and leaving town.  It’s about time.
