With the 72nd pick in the 2013 NFL Draft the New York Jets select Brian Winters

Brian Winters

Fresh of the pick of Geno Smith at number 39 overall, adding him to first round picks Dee Milliner and Sheldon Richardson, the New York Jets and John Idzik are at it again. with the 72nd pick of the NFL Draft the Jets have selected Offensive Guard Brian Winters out of the Kent State. At 6’6, 320 pounds Winters is a massive guy who will certainly fill a need for the Jets on the line. If Winters is able to grasp the system right away, a starting line of Ferguson, Winters, Mangold, Colon, and Austin Howard is certainly nothing to complain about. Winters excels in both run and pass protection and has solid feet for a guy his size. Even though his big size, Winters moves relatively well and also has experience playing all over the line if the situation were to arise that he would need to be moved to a different position due to injury, etc. Winters dealt with injury problems early on in 2011 but has not had any other issues besides. Winters will be tested when he gets to training camp against the Jets strong defensive line. Overall i am pleased with this pick, although it is not exactly a “sexy” pick, Winters fills a need for the Jets. The Jets still have picks in all of the upcoming rounds so stay with us as we continue to evaluate the picks.
