Rapid Reaction to the Geno Smith Selection

Well, it has happened. The Jets have added yet another quarterback to the three ring circus. Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, and Geno Smith are all in NY now, and will all garner media attention. They will all have the same problem, not having any weapons to play with. Let’s get some reactions from the web:

Russ Lande, National Football Post

The Jets make their team perhaps the biggest circus in the NFL by drafting quarterback Geno Smith. Now with Smith, Sanchez and Tebow on the roster, New York has three quarterbacks who will command media attention. Geno will need to greatly improve his footwork and release in order to become an accurate passer, which is vital if he is ever going to be a quality starting quarterback in the NFL.

The Jets get their QB of the future in Geno Smith, and end his long draft weekend. Geno has a good arm and put up fantastic numbers at West Virginia for three consistent years. I love his potential in the NFL and thought he should have been a first rounder.

Pete Prisco, CBSsports.com

Geno Smith in this spot is nice value. It’s about where he should have gone. How many quarterbacks do they have now?

Sound off, what do you guys think?

Amazing. If you look at Mike Mayock’s Top 100 prospects the Jets end up with 3 of his top 21 prospects! If the Patsies did that ESPN would be throwing up all over themselves congratulating them and saying what a great job they did!

You are probably right about that Frank.
