I guess one good Landry deserves another.
After losing Laron Landry earlier this off-season to the Indianapolis Colts, the Jets have signed his brother, Dawan Landry, as confirmed by the team today.
Dawan has a history with coach Rex Ryan, as he played his first five seasons in Baltimore, three of them with Rex as defensive coordinator. In seven NFL seasons, he has started 96-of-98 games and has recorded 678 tackles, 12 interceptions, 5.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. In 2012, Landry started all 16 contests and registered a career-high 176 tackles.
This is a good signing for John Izdik and the Jets. With Laron and Yeremiah Bell departed to points West, the team needed some veteran leadership at the safety position, and Dawan Landry will be prepared to provide that in 2013. The brothers’ styles are quite similar, so if that is any indication as to how Dawan will perform in the Green and White, we all have something quite exciting to look forward to.
All signs are good here with John Izdik so far, he is patient, and gets what he wants. I like it.
