I don’t think any team should be picking Jones in the first round. With his being diagnosed with spinal stenosis, if someone has to pick him you’re probably talking 3rd round. That is unless some team doesn’t value their 2nd round pick, then that could be entirely possible. Jones may be the only “hybrid” type (yet still unproven even in that role) LB Ryan is looking for, but his medical problems and the fact that there aren’t any of those types in the draft should dictate his changing his defensive strategy. If they’re truly rebuilding there are plenty of OL’s, DL’s and true OLB’s and ILB’s to pick up and make us solid for what may turn out to be a “mega draft” year for us….next year.

Agreed. Besides I have seen multiple mock drafts with Jones dropping into the late second so why rush and grab him #9? If he is seriously our focal point then why not trade down and get more picks in this deep draft?

After seeing highlights and games of Dion Jordan I would like to pick him at #9 but I don’t think he will drop.

One of the questions I have is this: The Jets largest need in my opinion is at safety. We have some young unproven guys and we have yet to sign anyone. Of all the mock drafts I see, NONE have Jets drafting a safety at all. I hope we go OL, OLB, SAF in first three picks, then WR, TE, CB, RB for last 4 picks (neither in that specific order).

Thank you both for taking the time to check out the mock. My opinion on Jones is that IF, and that is a big if, he is able to be medically cleared ( which reports have been good so far), then I think based on talent alone he is a top 10 pick. With Pace, Scott, and Thomas all out of the picture now, the need for an OLB is that much bigger. While my first choice for the Jets would be Dion Jordan as you mentioned, I would be quite suprised if he makes it to number 9. Regarding the OL and Safety, I agree both are a major need. This years draft is relatively deep for Safeties, so one may be had in the 3rd that can come in and start right away. OL should be addressed in the top 4 rounds for sure.

I hope the Jets trade down. Twice if they could and pick up a bunch of picks. The reason no one has them drafting a safety is because there are no good ones in the 1st or 2nd round that make sense where they are picking. When you get to the 3rd round or so, there are some good guys that are worth that pick, as are interior lineman.

I can’t see Lane Johnson falling to the Dolphins, he has huge buzz right now, I see him going in top 10.
