Well, he is not available yet, but is expected to be. If he does become available, he may not be available for very long.
Kevin Kolb is expected to be released in the coming days, and the Jets reportedly have interest. Many of the Jets’ mainstream media have been reporting that when/if Kolb is released, the Jets will be a team seeking his services.
It’s an interesting choice, should it come to pass. John Idzik is holding true to his mantra that there will be competition at every position, and quarterback should be no different. Finally bringing in someone who has played in the last 2 years would be a nice change and make the competition more believable.
Also, there is a connection, as Kolb played under Marty Mornhinweg’s wing in Philadelpia, where Marty was the offensive coordinator. Kolb has never been great, but he did earn his big Arizona contract during limited playing time in Philadelphia.
The other side of the coin is, how good will the competition really be? We don’t need to quote stats to know that Kevin Kolb has been bad as a starter. There is no way to be sure that Kevin will step it up in competition with Mark. He could regress, leaving Mark the unfettered reign as the QB.
It will get interesting in the next days, weeks..etc. That is for sure.
