New York Jets Free Agency News: It’s No Deal for the Jets and Brandon Gibson

Just an update on the proceedings at Florham Park so far.

The Jets did, as reported, have Brandon Gibson in for a free agent workout today. However, as reported later this afternoon, Gibson is going to continue with his free agent visits, leaving New Jersey without a contract offer from the New York Jets.

Gibson would have been an interesting choice, as mentioned yesterday, he did post career highs in 2012. No word as to what might have prompted the parting of the ways.

In other news, running back Mike Goodson is still scheduled to appear for a tryout of his own, no word on whether that has happened, how it went….etc.

Time will tell soon enough, but saying no to Brandon Gibson could be saying hello to Braylon Edwards. They seemed to fill similar roles, so maybe this paves the way for a return. It would be nice, for them to hang on to SOMEONE that Mark Sanchez feels comfortable throwing to.

We will see soon.
