Even though we are still a couple of hours away from the official signing period beginning, the rumors are starting to circulate about players and teams. The Jets are no different.

Members of the Jets beat this morning, such as Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger and Rich Cimini of ESPN are reporting that the Jets are interesetd in Rams’ wide receiver Brandon Gibson. Gibson posted career highs in 2012 in TDs with 5, and receiving yards with 691. He added 51 receptions to that stat total.

Furthermore, if you go to the detailed statistics from Pro Football Focus, you get a directly glimpse into his dependability.  He was targeted 75 times and caught 51 passes, a 68% completion  percentage.  He obviously has good hands.

He doesn’t get very many yards after the catch, which would be of utmost importance to a West Coast offense,  and this is a knock against him.

His last salary was $582,500, and for a player that has been primarily a backup, his pay day is not going to be as great is other guys.

It does leave me with one other queston, however, and I would like to post it now.

What happens to this guy?

Silly me I guess.

There is no way you dump Braylon Edwards again. He’s coming off 2 failed teams in Seattle and San Fran. His cap number can’t be that high not to re-sign him.

Hey you….good to hear from you….I totally agree, and hope bringing in a receiver doesn’t say goodbye to Braylon..just opening up to the possibility.
