We have one more set of results for you from the 3rd day of workouts at the NFL Combine.
When you watch the NFL Combine, you have to search for the drills that are relevant by position. Some things that these players are asked to do, just aren’t relevant. NFL teams shouldn’t be put off, for example, by offensive linemen that have a slow 40 yard dash speed. Straight-line speed is just not the most important factor when judging an offensive tackle.
A linebacker has to be able to change directions on a dime. They have to be able to take off after a back at a moment’s notice, pick up a receiver out of the backfield that shoots out late, or chase down a quarterback that has broken contain. To take a look how good they are at changing direction quickly, we look at the 3 Cone Drill. Here are the results:
|Collins, Jamie||Southern Miss||LB||7.10|
|Te’o, Manti||Notre Dame||LB||7.13|
|Taylor, Bruce||Virginia Tech||LB||7.21|
|Holloman, DeVonte||South Carolina||LB||7.30|
|Hepburn, Brandon||Florida A&M||LB||7.40|
|Stewart, Jonathan||Texas A&M||LB||7.44|
One more day to go.
