I was able to get in contact with New York Jets linebacker Ricky Sapp who was more then happy to do a little question and answer for me. Check it out and get to know Ricky Sapp a little better.
THE JET PRESS- As a young child, did you always dream of making the NFL?
RICKY SAPP- I actually did, I always said it and thought I had a chance to play football in the NFL.
TJP- What athlete did you look up to at a young age?
RS- Jevon Kearse ..he was a beast
TJP- If you were not playing football, what could you see yourself doing?
RS- I would see myself coaching high school football or become a strength coach.
TJP- Clemson is one of the most prestigious college football schools in the nation, what was it like playing for the Tigers?
RS- It was truly a blessing to play at such a great school… it feels like a big family when you go there… and every since I left I always come back and train there.. I LOVE CLEMSON
TJP- While I am sure you are close with all of your teammates, is there any guy you are really close with on and off the field? RS- Well I have kept in touch with many like Crezdon Butler, Mike Hamlin, Anthony Watters, and a whole lot of other guys… Byron Maxwell was also a close friend and still is …and of course me and Daquan Bowers.
TJP- What was going through your mind last year when you were suiting up for your first game as a New York Jet?
RS- I was just thinking about my journey to getting to that point. It’s truly a blessing to be a part of such a great organization and play for a great head coach. I’m just thankful he believes in me and take a chance on me.
TJP- What is it like playing under Rex Ryan?
RS- Man its awesome.. he really makes you enjoy playing football.
TJP- Any plans for the offseason?
RS- Well right now im back at clemson taking a class and training
TJP- Any goals for the upcoming season?
RS- I have a lot of goals, one of the main ones are to stay healthy and become the starting OLB for the NY JETS and contribute.
