It’s official, Ray Lewis is leaving the game with a Super Bowl title.
Despite a 34 minute delay in the second half after the power went out, and a furious comeback by the 49ers, the Ravens held on to win Super Bowl 47 by a score of 34-31. The Ravens, backed by 3 Flacco TD passes in the first half, opened up a 21-6 lead in the first half, which was extended to a 28-6 lead on the Jacoby Jones 108 yard kickoff return. Then, half of the lights went out in the stadium, delaying the game 34 minutes. The momentum shifted to San Francisco, who got as close as 2 points behind, but could never complete the comeback.
Joe Flacco won MVP honors after going 22-33 for 287 yards and the 3 first half TDs. Colin Kaepernick performed well, throwing for over 300 yards in the game, just his 10th NFL start. Michael Crabtree, Frank Gore, and Vernon Davis all recorded 100 yard games, but it was not enough to send Ray Lewis off into the sunset without his Super Bowl win.
