Well, the only move that Rex Ryan was hoping wouldn’t happen, did happen.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting this morning that former defensive coordinator Mike Pettine has been hired by the Buffalo Bills to fill that same role. At yesterday’s press conference, head coach Rex Ryan announced that although he had not been “fired”, he and Pettine agreed that he would seek work elsewhere. He wished Mike well, but hoped it wouldn’t be the Bills since they are in the same division. It will be interesting to see if Mike can coach without the assistance of Rex Ryan.

As I have said the entire time, there is no reason to worry about him not running our defense. The defense belongs to Rex, and anybody can run it. I am not to worried about him being in the division either, as the sharing of playbook info, to me, is overrated. The Bills still have to be able to execute, even if he brings Jets information with him.

It sure makes two games next year more interesting.

I’m happy for him. He deserves to be with a legit team. You can’t win games when your qb is so bad and you depend on your defense to win every game. That’s not right. Keeping sanchez in the game was a slap in the face to the defense. Ryan didn’t care about going down with the ship if it meant he could stay loyal. He should have been fired too. I wish nothing but the best for Mike.

Nothing unfair about that assessment Jocelyn. Thanks for reading.
