Jets Are Looking for Two Coordinators

News out of today’s press conference, the Jets are looking for not one, but two coordinators.

Well technically three, but we already have the replacement set for one. With Mike Westhoff retiring, his longtime assistant Ben Kowitica will be taking his place.

We already knew that Tony Sparano is out of a job. What we LEARNED is that they are looking for a defensive coordinator as well. Earlier, we reported that Mike Pettine was granted permission to interview with the Buffalo Bills for their defensive coordinator position. Rex took that further to say that Mike has decided that he would be better off pursuing work on other teams. So much so that the Jets are already planning on candidates that are going to replace Pettine. They advised they have several internal candidates for the job, and hinted that defensive backs coach Dennis Thurman might be the guy they want.

As I said in previous posts, fine. Pettine can go, it’s Rex’s defense anyway. I’d prefer not to see him in Buffalo, but it’s not the end of the world.
