No GM Announcement Expected Today, New Candidate Moves to the Front?

It looks like we could have a new candidate in the mix.

Earlier today, we learned that Tom Gamble, although he delayed some interviews, is not finished. He is slated to interview with the Chargers tomorrow out on the West coast. So, with tomorrow’s press conference looming, we are starting to wonder what, if anything, might happen.

Well, Kimberly Martin of Newsday has reported that there is no announcement expected today. But, an earlier report indicated that we might be close to a GM, but not the candidate we all expected.

Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports has indicated that Dave Caldwell, Director of Player Personnel for the Atlanta Falcons, should have his pick of jobs very soon, and the Jets are slated to be one of them. Per Silver, Caldwell is going to make his choice “soon”, between the Jaguars and our beloved Jets. He has interviewed once for the Jets, and three times for Jacksonville.

Any one of this group that the Jets have had come in would be a good choice, and Caldwell is no exception. The Falcons are a contending football team every year, and he would bring a wealth of knowledge to the table.

Hey, maybe he can bring John Abraham back with him? Haha I know that he can’t, but a guy can dream.
