Well look who is home? The big guy, Rex Ryan. Fresh off his vacation, we will finally here from Rex tomorrow, as well as owner Woody Johnson. Yes, a shade late, but as the saying goes, “Better late than always”. Oops, I mean “better late than NEVER.” Whatever the case may be, it’s time for the end of the year address for the New York Jets. Things are moving along in the general manager search, but remember this. It’s still the Jets. Whether they have the new GM in the fold or not, the situation will still be the same. We won’t learn very much. Get used to it. So that tells me that we shouldn’t expect too much. If we do, we will be very disappointed.
In and of itself, a Rex Ryan led press conference, especially in 2012, means not much truth. Oh, the information is given out under the “veil” of truth, but the truth is hardly there. We all have ears, and can decide for ourselves. But these things are usually not a plethora of information. Does anyone really think they are going to start now? Of course not. We are still going to hear the usual. Generic statements will be bouncing through the hall, giving us multitudes of half truths. That’s what we will get.
Don’t get your hopes up otherwise.
Furthermore, it seems that the GM situation may not be settled by that point after all. I have read that Gamble may be going on another interview after all, so the situation isn’t settled. Like I have said before, this will hamper their abilities to answer questions regarding next year successfully. Again, mostly they will be talking in generalities, simply because they won’t HAVE much information regarding 2013 that they will be willing/able to give.
Enjoy the final press conference of the year. Just don’t expect too much.
