Well, I guess this means Mike Tannenbaum will be out tomorrow after all.

Lisa Zimmerman of CBS sports is reporting that the Jets have hired Jed Hughes of Korn/Ferry International to head the search for a new GM. Hughes is the vice chairman of the sports sector of the Korn/Ferry, which is an international, executive recruiting company.

There have been reports for a while now that Woody Johnson is preparing to move on from Mike Tannenbaum as the general manager, and this move is evidence of that. The Jets declined to comment, as they don’t comment on personnel moves during the season.

There was speculation that Bill Parcells would be brought into the fold as a consultant on the GM search, but this appears to not be the case. A lot of fans were split on this idea, thinking that the Jets would be better served going with new blood to help with the search. Many fans are down on Parcells due to recent decisions he has made, especially with the Miami Dolphins while he was there. I wrote earlier this week that I would have been in favor of Bill coming in to assist, but I see the positives of new blood as well.

Black Monday will be the beginning of a very interesting offseason for the Jets, that’s for sure.
