My Christmas Wish for the New York Jets

It’s Christmas time, so it’s time to start thinking about wishes for our team. I am Jewish so I don’t celebrate this particular holiday, but it’s a time of year to look ahead at the future. This Christmas, my wish sounds simplisitic, but it’s really quite complex. It’s not a specific player, it’s not a specific position, it’s more general than that. However, although it’s general, it is important. What is my wish?

DIRECTION

Direction. Sounds easy, right? It isn’t. First, the organization needs to find it’s way again. Remember how tight the ship was when Bill Parcells and company were here? That is what we need to get back to. An organization with direction doesn’t allow all of these leaks to happen. How many leaks have we heard about lately? Far too many. They’re going to trade Sanchez, they’re not going to trade Sanchez, Tebow wants out, the defense is annoyed at the offense, Tebow asked not to play, the list goes on and on. It has to stop, and it has to stop now. I know everyone was frustrated way back when Bill was here, when nothing was said. You know what though? At least nothing was ever leaked. Stop worrying about headlines, keep everything in-house, and focus. Focus on having a direction.

They need direction in roster forming as well. If the Jets are going to play a certain way, they have to build the roster in that mold. Oh, they have had that type of focus in building a DEFENSE, no doubt. The defense might be a player away from being back at the top of the league. No matter what has happened to this team, the defense has remained at or near elite status. I am talking about direction for the offense. If they want to play “Ground and Pound”, that’s fine. It may be boring, but it’s fine. But they have to build their roster in that mold. How can you be a “Ground and Pound” team, without a guy that can carry the ball 25-30 times per game? Doesn’t a running style need a dominant running attack? You would think so, no? How about some consistent weapons on the outside to complement the running game? Just saying.

That’s my wish. Direction. Hopefully my wish can come true in the new year.
