We now know that there is no other way around it, if the Jets are going to make the playoffs, they must run the table and finish at 9-7. The Bengals’ win over the Eagles took away any margin for error there. It starts tomorrow night against the Titans, who will not be a pushover despite their 4-9 record. Any team that has Chris Johnson in their backfield will not be an easy team to beat. But Friday, Rex Ryan talked about another player that he believes will be tough, and that guy was the Titans young quarterback, Jake Locker:
He’s a special athlete. I don’t think there’s any doubt. (He is) a guy that presents a ton of problems for you. It’s strange, but they’ll pass more than you think. Having Chris Johnson back there, you’d think it would almost be the other way around, but they’re balanced maybe more leaning (towards) the pass than the run. They have a lot of confidence in (Locker), but he’s a guy (where) if (a receiver) is open, he’ll throw it (and) if he’s not, you have to be ready for him to take off. That’s certainly what our team knows and you have to have your antenna up, not just for when he throws the ball down the field, but when he takes off with it.
Although it hasn’t been a great season for him, Locker does possess a unique skill-set that will make things tough for the Jets tomorrow night. The Jets better not overlook these guys, they will be tough.
