Coach Bruce Coslet and Boome rEsiason led the Jets to the brink of the playofs in 1993.
Well, not exactly the Jets and the Titans. The Titans were still known as the Houston Oilers 18 years ago. In January of 1994, the Jets took on the Houston Oilers on the final day of the regular season. The Jets came to the Astrodome with an 8-7 record, and the playoffs were still possible. I wanted to take a look back, as this is the game that you probably have heard of. This is the game where Buddy Ryan(Rex’s Dad) and Kevin Gilbride (Giants’ current OC) had a physical altercation on the sidelines. Thank goodness Rex doesn’t get THAT feisty on the sidelines. Here is the footage of the incident for the younger readers that may not have seen it:
Crazy, huh? Here are the results from the actual game that took place:
Alan has been a passionate Jets fan since 1985. Obviously, that means he is a glutton for punishment, as he has suffered through many Jets disappointments. He remembers Mark Gastineau's late hit in the 1986 AFC Divisional Playoff game like it was yesterday. There have been many more failures than successes, but through it all, Alan has remained true to the Gang Green. He has been blogging for the Jets on various websites for the past 5-6 years. He lives and breathes the NY Jets all year round, and is committed to bringing the Jets passion to "The Jet Press" on a daily basis.
