If you haven’t heard by now, just a terrible story out of Kansas City this morning.
Young linebacker Javon Belcher fatally shot his girlfriend early Saturday morning. A call was received by police from the girlfriend’s mother that her daughter had been shot multiple times. After arrival, the police received a call from the Chiefs’ facility, informing them that a player matching the description of the man that shot the young lady holding a gun to his head at the doorway of the Chiefs’ facility. Belcher travelled over to the Kansas City Chiefs‘ facility at Arrowhead, and was met by head coach Romeo Crennel and General Manager Scott Pioli. Per reports, Belcher actually thanked coach Crennel and Pioli for everything they had done for him. He walked away, and took his own life via gunshot to the head. According to police, coach Crennel and General Manager Pioli did not feel in fear or in harm’s way. Sadly, he leaves behind a three-month old daughter that the two had together. The Jets released the following statement about the incident:
“Our sympathy and prayers go out to the Kansas City Chiefs organization and all those affected by today’s horrible tragedy.”
