Source: Tebow to be Deactivated Sunday vs. Cardinals

Well, if you are a Greg McElroy fan, you may be in for some good news.

ESPN’s Ed Wereer is reporting this afternoon, from a source, that Rex Ryan is planning to deactivate Tim Tebow for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals. He is still hampered by broken ribs, and has done very little in practice over the last three days. He has been seen off to the side working with trainers, and has stated that he has “discomfort” with his throwing motion. This will be official on Sunday obviously, but the idea is that coach Ryan is going to give Tim time for his ribs to heal, which makes sense.

Assuming this is the case, that means Greg McElroy will be active on Sunday, making it his first game active as an NFL quarterback. Congratulations to him for finally getting his opportunity. If Tim is going to be just standing on the sidelines, it makes all the sense in the world to deactivate him. Greg should be active as the number 2 quarterback to Sanchez this weekend. At least it will cut down on some of the in-fighting between Jets fans, at least for a day or so.
