Jets Waive G Hayworth Hicks, Sign WR Mardy Gilyard per Agent

In the latest edition of “Small Moves” with Mike Tannenbaum, the Jets released G Hayworth Hicks today. He is pictured in his college uniform because he was not activated for a game while he was here. He was signed by the Jets off of the Colts’ practice squad on November 7th before being released today.

The Jets made a corresponding move, although it has not been confirmed. WR Mardy Gilyard has been signed by the Jets, per Gilyard’s agent. Gilyard spent around a week with the Jets in 2011. Obviously, since Tony Sparano arrived in 2012, Gilyard will be starting at square one with the Jets offense, having worked with Brian Schottenheimer last season.

Whether the move is confirmed regarding Gilyard or not, this is just another example of the revolving door all season with the bottom portion of this roster. Tanny doesn’t make any significant moves, he just cycles guys in and out at the bottom of this roster, and wonders why they haven’t gotten any better.

Thanks Mike.
