At 3-6, the Jets don’t have a lot of room for many more losses. The Jets need wins, and they need to pile them together now. That desperation has not been lost in coach Rex Ryan, as he had this to say about it:
“We have to get a win,” Ryan said. “We need a win desperately. Not just, we need a win like every other team. No, we need one. We’re desperate for a win. Clearly, if you have goals, as any team would have goals to make the playoffs and all that stuff, then we have no choice. We have to win. There’s no tomorrow. We need to win.”
This has been the worst start for the Jets since Eric Mangini’s 4-12 season when they started 1-8. Rex went on to talk about getting to 4-6, and there is some history for the point. The Jets were 4-6 in 2009, and then they won 5 out of their final 6 games to go 9-7. We know what happened next, they made a playoff run to the AFC Championship game. It isn’t necessarily “over”, but it’s close. The Jets need to get it going now.
