Cromartie Can’t Wait to Play Against Schottenheimer’s Offense

We talked this morning about one of the major storylines in Sunday’s game, the reunion with Brian Schottenheimer. Well, we all know that Antonio Cromartie is never shy about saying what he thinks. Well, he is pretty pumped up about playing against Schotty’s offense. Here is what he had to say on the subject:

It’s going to be fun. I think it’s going to be fun. The biggest thing is just for us to go out and play the way we know how. Try to make the offense get into third-and-long type (situations) and not third-and-short. The thing about us is we have to make sure we get off the field on third down. You can’t get a penalty on third down. We can’t have stuff like that break down on the defensive side of the ball because for us, if you’re punting the ball, it’s like a turnover. We have to try to cause as many three-and-outs as possible as a defense to get the ball back to the offense.

Does he think Schotty will bring all he has against Cro?

I hope so. Honestly, you just have to be prepared for anything. It’s just a point of making sure that every guy knows that right now, we just have to make sure that on the backend everybody’s just doing their job and try to compete when the ball is in the air. I think that’s the biggest thing that we have to do is understand that we can’t let the ball get over our heads. I think last week we let three balls get over our heads and we can’t do that as a secondary. I think it’s only the second time in the four years that Rex (Coach Ryan) has been the head coach that we’ve given up three passing touchdowns. The biggest thing for us is just to make sure that we don’t do that again, and make sure that we are there to make a play on the ball when the ball is in the air.

It certainly will be interesting on Sunday.
