Jets Workng Out RB Steve Slaton and Khalil Bell

After making the Jets fans seemingly forever, the Jets are finally looking into legitimate help on the offensive side of the football.

Per Jason La Canfora, the Jets plan to make a signing of a running back today. They are working out two pretty good ones, in Steve Slaton and Khalil Bell. According to reports, there are others at the Jets facility today as well, but those are the two names that have been mentioned.

Steve Slaton, when healthy, is a talented running back. He did his best work in his rookie season with the Houston Texans, rushing for 1,282 yards and 9 TDs. He has had his injury problems, but is an explosive back when healthy, and he is only 26 without a lot of mileage on him. Bell’s experience has been much more limited, but he has shown some explosiveness as well, with a 4.5 yard per carry average for his young career. He too is only 25, and doesn’t have much mileage either.

Both would be a good addition to the Jets, even if it is too little, too late.
