Who says that patience doesn’t pay off? It finally has paid off for Ricky Sapp. The Jets have announced that they have elevated Sapp from the practice squad, filling the final open spot on the Jets active roster.

Sapp was a star at Clemson, and is quite the active pass rusher. Here is some video from his Clemson days for those of us that aren’t as familiar with him:

He is certainly a speed guy coming off the edge, that’s for sure. The Jets have been lacking speed off the edge for some time, as we all know. Some have wondered why it took Sapp so long to be activated from the practice squad. Looking at that tape, you have to be excited. Sapp has closing speed that hasn’t been on the defensive side of the ball in quite some time. If he can make an impact getting to the quarterback, Sapp could be just the infusion of energy that the defense needs to turn the corner back to the elite defense it once was.
