It looks like the Jes have filled one of their 2 remaining active roster spots.

The J-E-T Press has learned that the Jets have signed offensive guard Hayworth Hicks, previously on the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts.

Hicks is a rookie, out of Iowa State University. He weighs in at 6’3″ 336 pounds. The Jets have been a fan of this young man for a while, as according to sources, the Jets put in a claim for him during the preseason, when the Colts initally waived him.

Take a look at some video and you will see what the Jets see:

He is a punishing blocker. He doesn’t just make his blocks, he finishes them, making sure his man is out of the play until the end. His footwork is excellent, and he does an excellent job with his hands. He uses them to keep his guy off of him, not allowing him to get the upper hand.

It is interesting to me that he is a right guard. Can he play other positions? Or are we looking at the backup for, and eventually the replacement for, Brandon Moore? We will find out.
