Welcome to the NFL, Marcus Dowtin.

The Jets young defensive player learned today that he has been fined $15,750 by the NFL for his hit on QB Matt Moore last week. If you remember, he was flagged for a personal foul after delivering a blow to the head of Dolphins’ backup QB Matt Moore.

The fine was justified. We all know how seriously that the league takes protecting the quarterbacks. If anything impacts the safety of the quarterback, it will almost always incur a penalty or a fine. He was guilty of the blow to the head, so a fine was just about guaranteed. Marcus will have to learn that he must stay in control when getting to the quarterback.

Forgetting the penalty, however, wasn’t it exciting to see how quickly he got to the quarterback on the play? Being so used to seeing our old and slow defense, his speed was a welcome change. Hopefully he and the other young defenders will get a shot to play more often and learn to raise some heck in the offensive backfield.
