A lot of talk is about whether or not it’s Tebow time. No suprise there, as the backup quarterback is always the most popular player on a struggling offense, and that is magnified when that player is Tim Tebow.
However, let’s take a look at the defense for a minute. We have seen how they have performed, particularly against the run. The defense has been old and slow. We have all seen it. There have also been injury problems on the interior. Sione Po’uha has been bothered by injury all year. Kenrick Ellis has recently fallen to the injury bug. How about a solution, and one that will keep the defensive line young?
It’s not Tebow time, it’s “Damon time”.
Why not let the young guy loose, and give Damon Harrison a shot to play? He is a perfect build for a defensive tackle, at 6’4″ 350 pounds. To put it in perspective, Vince Wilfork is 6’2″ 325, and we all know how good he is. Damon just looks like a defensive tackle. In limited action, he is quite the handful to block. Imagine the need that other teams would have to put 2 guys on him, freeing up Quinton Coples and company to get to the QB, not to mention the fact that Damon is pretty fast himself!
How about a defensive line of Coples, Harrison, Pou’ha, and Wilkerson? I would take it.
It’s Damon time, ladies and gentlemen. The Jets need to get at it, now.
