John Conner Released, Marcus Dowtin Called Up to Replace Him

Well, it looks like the Terminator has been terminated.

It is being reported today that the Jets have released FB John Conner. Conner has not performed well when he has been healthy, and has been hampered by hamstring and knee issues all season, so there is no surprise here. The Jets have reached an injury settlement with him. Once healthy, he may be brought back, as he is noted as valuable on special teams.

To replace Conner on the roster, the Jets have called up Marcus Dowtin from the practice squad. Most certainly motivated by young players such as Demario Davis and Antonio Allen last week, this is a continuation of the younger and faster movement. Davis will be an asset to the linebacking group, and is noted for his ability to play many different positions on the defensive side of the football.

He is know as “the Hybrid”, for his ability to play many positions. His speed will be an asset to a linebacking corp that has shown itself to be pretty slow so far in 2012. To replace Dowtin on the practice squad, the Jets have re-signed CB Donnie Fletcher.
