Jets vs. Colts: Earning Their Wings

It was a great afternoon today at MetLife, as the Jets topped the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 35-9. The team performed well on both sides of the ball. Who earned their wings today?

SHONN GREENE

With all of the call for his benching this week, Shonn Greene ran with a purpose today. 32 carries, 161 yards and 3 TDs tells you all you need to know about Greene’s day. No, he wasn’t running over a great defense, but still, even fans that don’t like Shonn Greene have to give him credit for the game he played today. He ran downhill, he ran hard, and he put up the big numbers.

OFFENSIVE LINE

I cannot single out one player in this group, I have to give wings to the entire group today. The offensive line performed admirably today, allowing one sack, allowing Mark time in the pocket. Mark Sanchez had time to make the throws he had to make. The running game looked the best that it has in weeks, averaging 5.5 yards per carry. This was a great confidence building game for this group heading into New England next week.

QUINTON COPLES

A set of wings goes out to the rookie today, for finally making an impact, recording 1.5 sacks. Nice to see Quinton get on the field for a decent amount of reps, and make an impact.

ANTONIO CROMARTIE

Finally, a set of wings once again to Antonio Cromartie. Reggie Wayne put up decent numbers, with 5 catches for 87 yards, but he did record another INT, and a second one that was called back on a very questionable pass interference call. Cro came to play once again.

Tune in to see who earns their wings next week.
