The injury list just keeps on getting longer for the New York Jets.

It’s being reported this afternoon that LB Josh Mauga is finished for the 2012 season with a torn pectoral muscle. This adds to the list that includes Darrelle Revis and Santonio Holmes. Obviously this loss is not to the caliber of those, but Mauga did play a role in the depth of this defense, coming in for various sub packages.

What the injury may do is spur the “Demario Davis” era into action, as he would be the next man up the depth chart. A youth infusion wouldn’t be such a bad idea, as the defense, especially the linebackers, have looked slower than molasses running up hill.

In other news, DL Kenrick Ellis is expected to miss at least two games with a sprained knee. That should increase the playing time of fan favorite Damon Harrison, who looked excellent in a limited role last night. Hopefully, Sione Po’uha will be back soon as well.
