With all of the injuries so far, Jeremy Kerley is a guy that is going to benefit with more playing time. He is the longest tenured healthy Jets WR, with 18 games under his belt. He has shown himself to be a playmaker, both in the return game and the receiving game. We have outlined that he is on pace for almost 800 yards and 8 TDs receiving. Now, we will see more of him. How does he feel about the additional reps?
(I’m) definitely excited. I consider myself a playmaker so there’s more opportunities for me to get the ball in my hands. But, I’m pretty sure it will be spread out amongst all the receivers. We’ll all be asked to do a certain job and hopefully, we’ll go out there and perform our jobs.
After the, let’s call it “incident”, that was last week’s game, does he feel that the team has something to prove?
(We) more so (have) something to prove to ourselves. We still have a bitter taste in our mouth about what happened last game. We definitely want to kind of go out there and shake that loss and prove to ourselves that we’re back on the right track.
He has clearly taken coach Ryan’s challenge during the offseason well, as he has come to play. He is an emerging threat, and one that will help keep us optimistic moving forward in the 2012 season. He will get his chance to really show what he is made of now.
