Two new Jets were introduced to the media yesterday, CB Aaron Berry, and WR Jason Hill. First, we hear some thoughts from Berry, as he let us in on what Rex Ryan and he discussed:
He pretty much told me he’s a guy that gives people second chances. He feels like everybody deserves a second chance. He just wants me to come in here and respect everybody in the locker room and just be disciplined. If they take me in, then I won’t make the same mistake as I did before. I’m just going to take that in and like I said before, I’m blessed to be here and thankful that they gave me a second chance.
And now, from your new WR Jason Hill, about learning the new offense in preparation for Monday night:
It takes some time, but we’re game planning, so it’s not like I have to learn the whole playbook right now. My plays, I don’t know how much I’ll play (or) if I’ll play this week, but I plan to. I’m going to stay up all night learning the playbook and we’ll see what comes.
Both are very curious signings in my book. Hill from a skill set standpoint, as his body of work seems similar to that of Chaz Schilens, just without the injury problems. I am told that he is very fast, so hopefully that will translated into a downfield threat, given a chance with the New York Jets. It’s great to hear how hard he is ready to work, always a good sign.
Guys with checkered histories always end up having a problem in the Jets locker room, and that is what worries me with Aaron Berry. It’s great that Rex loves to give second chances, no doubt about it. They are deserved. However, it seems to become a problem when that guy translates into the Jets locker room, ie Burress, Holmes. If they can make it work, great. If not, the result won’t be so good. We will soon find out.
