Week 5: Jets vs. Texans Injury Report/Analysis

Jets

DNP

Sione Pouha (Unknown)- Pouha has played in every game since the season opener, but did not practice and no reason was given for his absence. He is much needed to help contain the Texans potent rushing attack. Without him stuffing the middle, it will be hard to contain Arian Foster and Ben Tate.

Stephen Hill (Hamstring)- Hill sat out again and is questionable for the game against Houston. With Holmes’ injury, the Jets need all hands on deck at receiver. If he doesn’t play look for Chaz Schilens to take his spot. Schilens filled in respectably last week getting open several times, however Sanchez could not find him.

Dustin Keller (Hamstring)- Keller has missed the last three games and coaches are unsure whether he will be able to play in week 5. The Jets could really use him, being that Santonio Holmes is out for the year. The receiving options are slim at receiver so having Keller would be a big help for Mark Sanchez.

Limited

Bart Scott (Toe)- Bart Scott did not practice due to a toe injury, but rode a stationary bike and is expected to play Monday. He needs to regain his form and play well against the Texans and Arian Foster.

John Conner (Knee)- Conner rode a bike but is uncertain for this week. The Jets went out an signed fullback Lex Hilliard to play in case Conner can’t. They need more production out of their blocking backs to try and get the run game back on track.

Texans

Out

Quintin Demps (Forearm)- Demps broke his forearm last week and will not play against the Jets. He is the Texans backup safety but usually takes a significant amount of snaps. Houston’s secondary is still very strong, but it does give the Jets a chance to take some shots when the Texans have sub packages in.

Ben Tate (Toe)- Tate sat out and is waiting for X-ray results on Thursday. If he misses time it would be a minor blow to the running game because although Tate could be a number one back on some teams, the Texans still have Arian Foster leading the way. As far as the Jets are concerned, it would be nice to only have to focus on one of them.

Antoine Caldwell (Ankle)- The Texans right guard sprained his ankle in week four and it is uncertain whether he will return to the lineup against New York. If he does miss time, rookie Ben Jones will start in his place. As it is, they have been battling for playing time so the talent drop off would be limited or a non-factor.
