Well, tne news that has been hanging over our heads is now official.

The Jets have announced that Santonio Holmes has been placed on season ending IR with the Lisfranc injury to his foot. The injury is going to require surgery, causing the Jets to officially end his season. Putting it mildly, Rex said, “It’s a big loss.” Rex said the team will rally around each other, referencing when the Jets lost Kris Jenkins and Leon Washington in 2009, but still made a run to the AFC title game. Based on the play of the offense and defense when Holmes and Revis were healthy, it seems like the situation is different, but we can take Rex at his word. Rex is confident that Santonio will return at full strength in 2013.

The Jets also officially announce the Jason Hill signing, as we reported earlier today. Hill will obviously take Holmes’ spot on the roster. Still a curious signing, as he is another guy that likes to trash talk, and has underperformed. It makes you wonder what/if Mike Tannenbaum is thinking.
