Dedrick Epps Waived to Make Room for Aaron Berry

Well, I guess the reward for catching Tim Tebow’s first pass and then getting injured aren’t so great.

This morning, the Jets announced the signing of DB Aaron Berry, formerly of the Lions. Well, a corresponding roster move needed to be made to make room, and the Jets revealed it this afternoon, announcing the release of TE Dedrick Epps. He didn’t do much in a Jets uniform, although he holds the distinction of catching the first pass that Tim Tebow threw in a Jets uniform. His reward was first, taking a low tackle that resulted in injury, and then, getting cut one day later.

The good news that can be taken from this, is that they must be sure that Dustin Keller is almost ready to play. They cut a tight end, a position that they have been thin at all year, since Dustin Keller injured his hamstring. The only reason to lose someone on that depth chart is that the starter is ready to come back.

God, I hope so.
