Bryan Thomas Likely to be Re-Signed on Monday

Here’s an update on the Bryan Thomas situation, if you haven’t already heard.

The word with Bryan Thomas is that he will most likely be re-signed by the Jets on Monday after the game. The move was made because the Jets needed a bit of depth at cornerback, so they activate Fletcher. Releasing Thomas means he doesn’t go through waivers, the release of a young player would mean that player would need to go through waivers.

Bryan Thomas’ salary is guaranteed, so the Jets do not want to eat his game checks for the rest of the season. Since he is not required to go through waivers, the Jets should be able to reacquire him. The only way that would be prevented would be if someone were to sneak in and sign him, as he is now available to sign with any team.

Barring a surprise, we will see Bryan Thomas back in a Jets uniform next week.
